The LA84 Foundation continues a long and rich Los Angeles tradition of
honoring athletes achievements on the field of play. This tradition,
dating back to the 1930s, was started by W.R. (Bill) Schroeder and the
Helms Athletic Foundation.
For Helms high school award selections dating back to the 1930s, go to the LA84
Foundation search page, scroll down to Helms Annuals, select
boxes, enter athlete or high school names (into search box) and then select
"search."
The LA84 Foundation High School Awards Program sponsors the all-star award
certificates for boys and girls in the CIF
Southern Section and Los Angeles City
Section in baseball, basketball, football, softball, soccer and volleyball.
The respective coaches associations make the selections. In total, approximately
1,500 athletes are honored each school year.
The LA84 Foundation also sponsored the National
Girls and Women in Sports Day (pdf) awards, from 1987 to 2008.
