Play Rugby

In March 2010 the LA84 Foundation partnered with Play Rugby USA to offer a flag rugby program. The program was introduced in conjunction with After School All Star Los Angeles at six locations. As this is non-tackle rugby, the game can be played on any surface. This is a fast paced sport in which boys and girls play together and everyone works as part of team. In addition to learning to play rugby, boys and girls learn sportsmanship and team skills, and build confidence.

Play Rugby USA provides the professional development training for the coaches. The training provides coaches with a basic orientation to rugby, how to incorporate rugby values into practices and how practices progress throughout the season using the Play Rugby USA youth development curriculum.
