Instruction in the basics of swimming, diving, water polo, and synchronized swimming is the purpose of the LA84 Foundation Summer Swim Program.

LA84 Foundation Summer Aquatics 2012

Since 1986, the LA84 Foundation has supported such instruction at all Los Angeles city and county pools, as well as in other selected municipalities including: Burbank, Carson, Glendale, La Mirada Long Beach, Palmdale, Pasadena, Santa Clarita, Santa Monica, South Gate and Ventura. More than 9,000 youngsters, ages 7 to 17, benefit from the Summer Aquatics Program each year. There are four culminating events: Swim Festival, Synchronized Swimming Festival, Diving Festival and Water Polo Festival.

The Summer Swim Festival is held at the John C. Argue Swim Stadium, in Exposition Park, next to the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.

The pool was originally used for the 1932 Olympic Games, and was refurbished and re-opened in 2003.
