Turin
In
2006, Turin, the third largest city in Italy, will become the largest
city ever to host the winter games. It will be exactly fifty years since
Italy hosted a winter games, the games of Cortina d'Ampezzo in 1956. Several
new facilities will be built including a multi-sports arena, and venues
for curling, bobsled and luge. The buildings are to be designed and built
to be friendly to the environment.
Turin
was awarded the games on June 18, 1999 and is just beginning preparations
for the games.
